On August 19, 2021, Al Qur’an Academy, with the trust and assistance granted by HASTRAS Singapore, provided iftar meals to the students of knowledge in different maahid and maraakiz of Zamboanga City. This was in observance of Ashuurah or the 10th day of Muharram 1443H which fell on the 19th day of August 2019. Fasting the day of Ashuurah expiates for the past year because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Fasting the day of ‘Arafah I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year before it and the year after it, and fasting the day of ‘Ashoora’ I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year that came before it.”

The distribution is headed by the Academy’s Founder and Director, Shaykh Vladimir Sahiron who is also the Project Manager of Hastras Zamboanga himself, and one of the Academy’s Instructor, Shaykh Abu Furqan.
Al Qur’an Academy goes beyond seeking knowledge by extending an arm on these blessed days of Muharram to students and teachers alike of other Islamic educational institutions in the city.
